To answer your question about why there isn't an indymedia center in
Venezuela i have to give you a little background on how indyemdia works.
Indymedia is a network of local collectives which are autonomous and self
organized. We as a network don't go and start indymedia centers in other
communities just because we think a community or country should have an
IMC. The initiative for starting an indymedia center has to come from
local media activists. It is through this local initiative that we are
able to maintain a strong decentralized network.
There have been several people from Venezuela who have expressed
interest in starting an indymedia center in Caracas. Unfortunately not
much progress has been made. If you are interested in helping with this
project you should send an email to dri at indymedia.org and
imc-latina at indymedia.org. They can help you learn more about what is
involved with starting an indymedia center and connect you with other
Venezuelians who are also interested.
I also encourage you to read through the documentation on starting and
indymedia center at: http://newimc.indymedia.org/?lang=es
The whole process can and has been done in spanish.
in solidarity,
evan
