their concern was that people instictively will type cancun.indymedia.org to
find out what happens 
I tried to explain that people will type www.indymedia.org and look at the link
they find in the first feature, but they did not agreed that it was so (i am not
going to argue on such a stupid thing but seems to me contrary to our common
experience not to acknowledge it always had been so)
In any case i proposed to set up, as well as cancun2003.indymedia.org or
www.indymedia.org/cancun redirecting to the actual site, a splash page on
cancun.indymedia.org saying: "there is no local collective; if you look for info
on cancun wto meeting, go there _>"

they did not seem to be satisfied of this solution and insisted that they needed
both www.indymedia.org/cancun, cancun.indymedia.org, cancun2003.indymedia.org
and maybe it would be even better to have wto.indymedia.org (raising the problem
on hwo do we move forward with thematic imc, for which we kind of have a problem
that i think will not be solved until we have a software able to build newswire
from a mix of syndicated articles and published articles)

just to update you on the splash page thing that seem to me a very reasonable
non-conflictive solution

for sure i am not going to argue and lose time to fight with people i respect
because of a domain, but it seems to me quite sadly remarkable that they would
change their position in the least even faced with actual proposal of material
solution
