Hello, New IMC. My name is Scott and I am part of a group
forming a collective in Athens, GA, USA. Currently, we are
organizing a monthly video showing ('Up Against the Wall' if
we can get a projector, heh) at the Green Scene, a local
vegan Bakery; the Rant, a weekly public forum on ANYthing
that can be recorded for broadcast over the student radio
station; and working on getting more local news onto local
radio. WUOG 90.5FM is all-student, all-volunteer, and has a
philosophy of being an "Alternative Media Outlet," so I'm
hoping we can work pretty closely with WUOG, especially since
i've worked there for four years, and will be helping to
install a lot of new digital equipment to replace the old
analog stuff.

we are affiliated with Common Ground, an initiative to form a
Community Resource Center / Progressive Network / Infoshop
Space--In fact, i myself am doing the webstuff for them.

So I guess we wanted to be an IMC. I guess we can't be IMC-
Athens, but we'll come up with something. Our list is
mediaarclist at yahoogroups.com, but as I manage the list, i'd
like to know how to switch the listserv over onto the IMC
servers in ATL or elsewhere, if that would be ok.

I myself am a bit of a homebody, as i work at the university,
the student radio station, take classes and am work with this
non-profit, as well as the resquite band I play in, this
being AthensGA. But I am in contact with organizers for the
upcoming events in Columbus, Miami, and the Georgia Coast.

Um, yeah. So that's me and mine. I guess you could say we
haven't been generating so much content as building local
activies and forums for content so far, but I feel we'll
produce more once we get the ball rolling. We should be
having a flyering for a recruitment meeting soon.

they won't have to burn the books
when no one reads them anyway
