Hi everyone at new-imc,
The Kansas City IMC group is back! About a year ago they filled out the
network membership form and sent it in to the new-imc group. We tried to
find them a liaison but that apparently didn't work too well, so they
decided just to keep organizing and deal with us at new-imc later.
Now they seem to be really to go through the new-imc process once and for
all. Read their below information and you'll see they've already put a lot
of work and thought into their organizing. They acknowledge they have a
lot of improvements to make, as do all IMCs, but they seem to be willing to
work hard to make them. This link (http://kcindymedia.org/info/index.php)
will get you to a page on their site with more information about them,
including their mission statement
(http://kcindymedia.org/info/display/mission/) and editorial policy
(http://kcindymedia.org/info/display/policy/).
Sam, Chuck and others from KC . . . I think the next step, as indicated at
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/NewImcHowTo, is for the KC IMC to
respond point by point to the membership criteria document:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/MembershipCriteria.
You've basically addressed all the membership criteria points in your
information below, but if you take a moment and reorganize your info to
respond point by point to the membership criteria document that will make
things easier. (that's the format most people are used to seeing when an
IMC is putting in its final application for network membership) As soon as
I get that I'll post it to the new-imc list for three days so people here
can take a look. If there is no dissent, which there shouldn't be, I'll
post it to the imc-process and imc-communication lists for the necessary
week period, so IMCs throughout the network can take a look. After that .
. . voila! You will have achieved official network membership. :)
Let me know if you have any questions about this, either via e-mail or over
the phone (Sam, I'll e-mail you my phone number).
