hoi

so dnc.indy would be an url for an event only, but not a permanent IMC?

I know that we had that discussion a couple of times now about urls for
events like with cancun and ftaa and i think it's time that we find a
solution for that soon.

Some people got together on new-project at indymedia.org, but somehow that
didn't get of the ground, so I raise my general questions here

1) should the url reflect that an event is an recurring event, so that it
the next group has the same chance for an appropriate name? like wto2003 or
wto-cancun or so, with an option to link all wto-sites from a possible
wto.indy

2) does it make sense to set up complete new sites every time? It means we
have an good imc for a short while, but after that i suppose that the site
either stops, or in a way turns into a topic site like ftaaimc.org might be
doing now. Wouldn't it be better to find a way have an event covered by or
in cooperation with a local imc if there already is one?
Only half jokingly: if we start setting up event imcs: is that like flying
in some Indymedia experts that leave nothing behind at the local community
after the event is over?

Some of us have been disussing these issues in trying to set up biotech as
a topic imc, and in a way it is discouraging to see how these relevant
questions seem to fall in a big black hole, while the actual site is easier
set up half outside Indymedia like ftaa and biotech: committed to the idea
of indymedia and putting it ideas into practise, but with little
recognition, syndication etc by the "official" network.

However, this is by no means, meant to stop the people who want to cover
the DNC.

love and solidarity
