Hoi Meghan,

there are the mission statement and the principles of unity (pou) are two 
different things:

The Principles of Unity are the same for every local IMC. they are the 
basic description of what Indymedia is, and if a group is not accepting 
them, then they will not be approved by the new-imc process. The POU means 
that a group accepts what Indymedia is.

The mission statement however is up to the local IMC. Of course you can can 
take the short basic version that's on the global site www.indymedia.org, 
but in practices a lot of local IMC have much more explicit mission 
statements. The mission statement defines why, what and how the local group 
wants to work. (It is good to put a lot of discussion in that and in the 
editorial policy beforehand because it will help you with practical 
decissions later if have a basis of where you want to go)
