Yes, I and others here in Ithaca are also going to be meeting with folks
in Utica (who didnt get included in the 7, which is atleast 8, in the
new-imc process right now). It sounds like Utica has enough people
interested to start a full IMC right off the bat, but apparently they
dont have alot of experience with non-heirarchal organization models or
consensus decidion making, so a face to face meeting would seem
important. I'll get back with more details when I have them.

I spoke with the woman from Hammondsport about southernteir IMC, because
of the small size of Corning/Hammondsport it makes sense to start off as
an extension of IMC-Ithaca (as many other IMC's are doing now) and
eventually break-off into their own IMC when they get big enough. She
said she attended the Ithaca Social Forum and is familiar with the IMC
here, and we'll be working more with people in their area and will be
discussing this further at our IMC meeting tomarrow night.

I recently requested an update on Binghamton and have been subscribed to
their list, as far as I know they haven't had a public meeting yet and
there we haven't heard about any outreach in Binghamton. It's starting
to look like there may not be enough energy in Binghamton right now to
start a full IMC, but it may be possible to have it be a sub-IMC for
awile while they grow and get more people involved. Binghamton, like
Hammondsport/Corning, is about a 40-minute drive from Ithaca.

We've also discussed here in Ithaca traveling to neiboring cities and
doing film screenings/outreach with the goal of getting sub-IMCs started
there.. this area of the state is starting to really blossom with energy
for starting IMCs, it's going to be interesting to see this play out.

An interesting discussion would be how to name IMCs as we continue to
grow.. prehaps for smaller cities we should start using
city.state.indymedia.org - and even for older IMCs setting up aliases
for this (while keeping the old names). For other countries,
city.country could work, or city.province.indymedia.country.. etc.
