Subject: [New-imc] Iran is still an orphant!
Hi,
Again: I am quitting this list, because apparently
people think I am not
doing a good job. And I have too much other shit to do
to deal with Petros
accusations all the time. So would some one please take
over IMC Iran?

Would everyone just chill out? Ok, so we're all under
more stress than
usual, there's alot of new IMCs joining the network...
deep breaths, we
an handle it, we need more volunteers but the world
isnt comming to an
end.
As per IMC-Iran, I was handling it but our primary
contact kinda
disappeared a few weeks ago. Nobody, including the
people he was
working with in the IMC, has had much contact with
him. We hope he's
ok.

Bart and Arc,
I just wanted you to know that for reasons unknown to
me, people in imc-beirut and in the new-imc working
group, are being told by Hannah (blue pi), that I am
accusing her (of what?) and making things difficult for
her.
You should be aware that none of this is true. You
might want to search if that is the case, before
assuming that I am guilty of this accusation.
All the archives of all the imc groups were I
participate, are
open for all to see - that is the beauty of Indymedia
transparency, it makes some forms of democracy more
feasible. And every opinion of mine and articles I
write, are available for all to see.
It makes me sad that this campaign of lies has
disrupted my relationships with some of our colleagues
in Beirut, but I'm hoping that in the end it will
become obvious that we are more or less on the same
side against the Empire, and the last thing we need is
campaigns to poison trust.
It's easy to sow mistrust, but what about some
committment to building co-operation?
Now regarding imc-Iran, if you think that activists in
the US and western Europe are able to go ahead (as has
been the case so far) and build a correct, balanced,
political alliance with colleagues from Iran while
by-passing Indymedia colleagues from the Middle East
who might be a bit more familiar with regional
realities, go right ahead. But I believe that your
committment to anti-imperialist politics will prevail
over the excitement of the moment which may lead to
mistakes, wrong alliances, etc, and I hope that you
will see that there are better ways of doing things.
Remember the imc-iraq fiasco of last year, when due to
unchecked enthusiasm we almost built an Indymedia
alliance with the US- backed contra army in north Iraq?
We need to avoid political mistakes like this, and we
need to put together our combined perceptions of global
reality, with primacy to local/regional contacts for
some analysis before we jump in.
What do you think?
Petros
