HOwdy New imc folks
geoffrey from winnipeg canada.
sorry for the inactivity but we're having a horrible time trying to get our
site up (due to waning sf active support).
Anywyas, im having some extra time and I would like to offer diplomatic
assistance and even guidance (if necessary) to the Iranian IMC in order to
keep up forward progress.
Also, im Canadian, and thus, more diplomatic than many folks from many
places.
It seems that some of the middle eastern imcs can, at times, be prone to
having ipersonal disagreements snowball (guess IRan doesnt get much snow)
and become bigger than they really are.
In order to keep the Iran IMC up, something that IMCers everywhere want to
see (especially before the US attacks it), the interpersonal problems have
to be overcome.
The point was made that all people are esentially on the same side with
"the issues that matter". It is that common ground that has to be used as
the glue to keep the project together.
While at Ontario imc, we had some spectacular diagreements and arguments
which indeed, at times, became personal when they shouldnt have. These
arguments, which becasme extremely heated did not cause anybody to leave
the IMC but rather made us accept points of view than are different from my
own. And thats what makes that imc group so strong.
Petros, you really CAN't quit, youve gone a ways and made some serious
progress. A disagreement or difference in opinion is not really enough
reason to leave all of the work you have done so far behind. As you
yourself said, there is strong common ground.
Blue Pi it seems thinks thatshe has been slighted. What she needs to do is
clearly state all of her concerns and problems, in a straight forward
manner with faith that her concerns will be addressed and her problems will
be solved.
At the same time Petros must inded respond to the concerns in a way that
addresses Blue Pi concerns. Neither person should try to prove that they
are right and the other wrong. If the dispute becomes an argument than
somebody can win, they you both lose. The only way to have either person
come out of the dispute "victorious" is to use the common ground you
already have to come to a solution which is agreeable to both people.
Once yu have solved your interpersonal problems, then you will be that much
mre confident that you are able to overcome any obsctacle that should arise.
I have to agree with petros that it is very important to make sure than you
dont have American government or their sympathizers playing too strong a
role. such a thing would cause the collapse of an imc.
Heres how i see it in bluntest terms. In a couple weeks, uncle sam will
atack Iraq and kill thousands. Within a few months, Iraq will have died
down and the US will be looking for another country to fight. There is a
good likelihood that said country may be Iran.
Once the US attacks Iran, there will be no news coming out to the western
world, only what tha US government says about the sittuation.
An IMC in Iran may be one of the only ways to get information about an
attack out to the rest of the world. It is only with this information that
we will EVER be able to bring people like BUsh Cheney, Rumsfeld etc... to
justice.
Without an imc, people will be without an idependant source of information
and will not know what is going on on the ground in Iran if there is an
attack.
for that reason alone, you folks soudl be willing to overcome your
differences as you have taken on a job that is much more important than any
one or two people.
best of luck
geoffrey
