tony,
One of the important things in NIMC, IMHO, is to reduce the
chances of confusion and misunderstandings. They're going to happen
anyway, but we can try and avoid obvious communication errors.
Please see:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/NewImcHowHelpUs
for hints on how we have been doing things so far.
An example from IMC Lancaster is that i asked an elementary question
on the new-imc mailing list and got absolutely no answer.
###
What are the URLs of IMC Lancaster's discussion lists?

###
A collective which debates through mailing lists but keeps these
secret is not an open collective.
What the new-imc volunteer can do in this case is help the locals
and answer the question for them. In any case, i eventually found
the answer:
http://lists.indymedia.org/listinfo/imc-lancaster
(44 subscribers, many messages!)
http://lists.indymedia.org/listinfo/imc-lancaster-kinematograph
(1 test message)
http://lists.indymedia.org/listinfo/imc-lancaster-tech
(2 subscribers, no messages yet)
It even looks like the Lancaster group are going to host a UK
Indy network meeting at the end of Feb! Great!

Anyway, i'm putting IMC Lancaster up for internal new-imc approval:
IMC LANCASTER new-imc internal approval DEADLINE Wed 15 Jan GMT 14:00
tony: i guess you will handle passing this on to imc-process and
imc-communication for a 7-day deadline once the internal deadline has
passed?
It would make life a lot easier for us
if either:
(1) you follow the present habit of putting a clear Subject: header
or
(2) you suggest some other, alternative, but still robust way of
minimising communication errors
solidarity
