We are being hosted by bandwidthcoop.org, so we can\'t really contribute any server or bandwidth resources. We can contribute some technical skills when needed. We definitely have lots of organizing skills, as pretty much everyone involved is a veteran activist.

outreach:
Most progressive organzations that are known statewide are involved to some degree. We have a collective of about 20 people throughout the state, who are veteran activists, dedicated to Arkansas Indymedia. We have had one state-wide meeting in Little Rock, AR, and a lot of email collaboration. We already have our site up and running at http://arkansasdada.bandwidthcoop.org. We are going to have the graphic design set in place within the next couple days. At our statewide meeting, we accepted the \"Principals of Unity\" and \"Membership Criteria\" and developed our editorial policy and mission statement amoung other things. As soon as we join the global network, we will explode with growth, as many individuals and organziations around the state already have flyers, sickers, and other publicization tactics ready to go, once we get up and running fully.

Truth surfaces in the face of corporate dominance.

We come from the backwoods and city streets, from comfortable homes and beneath bridges.
We see Arkansas as it is and as it could be. We see our impovershed, rural and urban sisters and brothers living amoungst that small minority--Tyson\'s, Wal-Mart, etc.--with so much wealth. We see our lives becoming markets for the capitalist monster to devour. We see the \"Natural State\" becoming a wasteland. Where there once was a community, there is now a corporate business district. Where there once was a forest, there is now a subdivision.

Arkansas Independent Media Center speaks truth to these realities by providing a reclaimed meda space, free from corporate chains. The IMC is designed to empower and give voice to the people of Arkansas, especially the voices and ideas marginalized by mainstream media. We will supply Arkansas with radical, passionate, intelligent, and accurate versions of stories and issues that link our communities to the world. 

We will do this in a non-heirarchical way that emphasizes collective decision-making, decentralized power, and a malleable structure. Our IMC will include diverse perspectives and expand awareness. Arkansas Indymedia is an avenue to building a network of communication and free information to help form the base of the movement that will overcome the wreckage left by capitalism.
