[New-imc] Funding IMC-Iraq ourselves

There has been quite a bit of debate about from whom IMC people would be
happy to see the guys in Iraq accepting funding. This is all rather
acedemic since organisations are not currently lining up to fund
Al-Muajaha, and frankly I think it will be difficult to get external
funding, and particularly to get it quickly (within a month or so, since
Al-Muajaha needs help now). I’ll let everyone know what comes out of my
meeting with the director of the BBC World Service on Friday, but I
suspect that the most they (and others like IWPR) will offer is help
with journalistic training – something Majid has stressed is very
important. 
However, if every person on this list (I’m guessing there are 20-30,
maybe more) donated $500 – something most people in US or Western Europe
can earn in a week –that would provide for all IMC-Iraq’s start up
costs. I think we’d all agree it would be best if Al-muajaha was funded
from within the Indymedia movement itself.

to me how they get the cash to Iraq – is there a money transfer system I
could use directly?)
