resources:
Open for discussion. Our core seed group has been actively involved in activist work in several areas. Two members have served on a large weekly student newspaper, and two individuals are curently members of faculty at Fresno City College.

outreach:
Substantial network is already in place that can and would be developed. Core support includes representation from the Native American community, as well as others. The California Central San Joaquin Valley is nationally ranked for its poor air quality. Over 400 citizens of Fresno died last year due to particulates in the air. The Fresno area is of key strategic importance to such critical natural resource areas such as the Giant Sequoia National Monument, which is under direct attack by the Bush Adminstration via turning its timber harvest rules over to the unbridled discretion of the timber industry. We have met with and have developed contacts associated with these and other important issues and, as a result, would now be able to provide competent, high level \"content\" and \"organizational\" support for a Fresno INDYMEDIA CENTER.

introductory_statement:
It is our organizational position that today\'s mainstream media has been captivated and is now controlled by conservative, right-wing interests. Contemporary mainstream media is largely a cheerleader for governmental authority on all levels and, tragically, exists largely as a public relations tool of wealthy, specific special interests. There are such grave public interest issues that are unique to the Fresno, California region that unvarvinished truth in reporting is required. As governmental powers continue to expand, modern mainstream media continues to be of unquestioned, blind support for such efforts, development of regional independent media is now imperative.
