Hoi,
just for clarification: Is SF-IMC splitting up in two groups due to
internal, personal conflicts in the group, or is it because is a form of
regionalistation because the exisiting one appears to big?
In case it is the former:
I don't want to stop anybody in coming up with solutions for conflicts, but
in general I begin to worry as there are several IMCs now that seem to
split up in smaller IMCs due to internal conflicts. And I wonder whether
Indymedia as a network can do better then just approve of new IMCs to
seperate those that have problems with one another.
In general I also should think that a new group, even as it comes from an
existing group, should go through the new-imc process, because it forces
everybody to do some reflection. (In fact all IMCs should do once in a
while). The experience with other IMCs where conflicts arose around the
question whether certain editorial policies are in accordance with the
Indymedia idea and with the Principles of Unity, show that we can not
always expect that a new group coming from an old group will come through
without problems. In any case if a group splits up and makes two new ones,
it would be the fair thing to do if both went throught the process.
Having said all this: All the best to the SF-IMC volunteers to work this out.
Love and solidarity,
Clara
