[New-imc] MODESTO (initial response)

Hi there Doug,

My name is Jay and I'm from the Philadelphia IMC. I'm also part of the
new-imc working group, the group that helps aspiring IMCs like yours join
the Indymedia network.

I'm glad to see organizing is going on in Modesto! That's very
exciting. I'm sure there are people involved in California IMC organizing
who would be happy to help your group through the next stages of
organizing, and through the process of "formally" joining the Indymedia
network. I'll e-mail the new-imc mailing list and see if anyone from your
region is able to help.

In the meantime, if you haven't already done this, check out the documents
at http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/NewImcHowTo which will give you
step-by-step instructions for what to do next. Basically, the next steps
include getting together an editorial policy, mission statement,
decision-making process, etc.

I'll let you know if anyone from California (maybe the SF IMC?) volunteers
to help you out. If you don't hear from someone by the time you're ready
to embark on the next step of the new-imc process, drop the new-imc working
group a line and someone will help you along.

Good luck!

Jay
