BACKGROUND:
My point of view of what's happened on IMC India is more or less
the following.

Since at least Jan 2003 there have been hate posts on the IMC India
newswire:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-india/2003-January/000722.html
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/new-imc/2003-January/003207.html

In Aug 2003, several new people were extremely angry at the intensity
of hate postings, contacted the network, and learnt how to auto-organise:

http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/imc-india/2003-August/
http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/imc-india/2003-September/

In the absence of any communication from the Madurai collective for
several weeks (still no contact) - apart from the daily hiding of
certain articles (including clearly acceptable articles) by someone
who remains anonymous, some new people proposed an emergency editorial
policy for IMC India:

http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/imc-india/2003-August/001008.html

which was consensed on without further concerns being expressed.

IMHO, the new people are doing excellent work - any support from
people with experience with this sort of sabotage campaign on other IMCs
would help them while they're trying to find what can be sustainable in
the long term.

The "local vs global" question: ganesh lives in Calcutta (despite the .ie
email address) - and the question has been discussed - see the archive for
details.
