Hi again,

We now have these excellent guidelines embedded into the
new-imc work- group guidelines for doing our contact- work
with emerging new imc groups. These relate to gender
politics, to many different kinds of diversity, and to the
realization that it takes *organizational* and *political*
steps to address the fact that the "personal is political".
(and many thanks to the imc-women group which helped us
awaken to these truths again):

* * *

A. How does the makeup of your collective reflect the
diversity of the local community (e.g. in realtion to
gender-, sexual-, spiritual-, and/or cultural-identity)?

B. If your group currently does not represent the diversity
of the local community, particularly in relation to groups
who are in mainstream society and denied access to vehicles
expression, what steps will be taken to address this on an
ongoing basis?

C. What steps will be taken to involve individuals in
workfields new to them? What measures will be taken to
overcome a gendered work division?

* * *

I hope that these principles don't end up just being treated
as "one more item on the form" for the new-imc work- group,
but that they can actually be guides to us for taking every
care in our contacts with new allies and friends of imc, to
find ways together with them to embody these values in the
emerging new imc groups.

Of course, it still leaves open the terrible problems we
face with *existing* imc groups, especially at the most
active ones at the global level, where the dialogues
(including the decision- making, and all action) are
dominated by a spirit totally contrary to the values we
adopted above. How are we to deal with those problems?
