"I know a bit more about what is going, still not the whole story, but I
know that the dns (indybay.org) thing is a bit more tricky. It is not
owned by wither collective, but by a mutual friend from linefeed"
This is not true. The owner of the DNS entry is a person who
was at the mediation meetings and was one of the people
who pushed for us to take the indybay name rather than
having both groups take new names and have the old
site be frozen.
"Point 5 is becasue apparently a memeber of SFBAY talked to the corporate
media and because SFBAY brought these local issues to global process.
"
Could someone clarify this accusation? A person form a local newspaper has
been
harassing people to talk about the split. What is the accusation against the
person in
indybay and how does this relate to why we cant have ownership over our url?

"Just for clarification, what was the split about?"
It was a series of personal conflicts between 2 people in the SF group
and 2 people in the sf.indymedia group that somehow resulted in the
groups division. At the first mediation meeting almost all of the people now
in
indybay opposed the idea of the split since of course it wont make sense
to people in the community. But due to the mediation, we now have two sites
and there
really isnt a way to go back.cleanly. While I opposed the idea of a split, I
at least
had hoped that both groups would compete by doing a lot of updates and news
coverage.
I really cant understand why the sf.indymedia.org group wants to own our url
if they want this conflict over. If the idea was to prevent the groups from
having to interact,
having one group own the other's DNS entry just doesnt seem like a good
idea.
