Subject: Warisata
> The Warisata project (in which Chalo, key contact for Bolivia-Indymedia, is aware of): Warisata IndyMedia.
>
> 1. Warisata is one the aymara communities where confrontations with the military took place last
> October. It's about one hour from La Paz, near Titicaca lake... in a region considered the heartland
> of the aymara nation.
>
> 2. It has this school for rural teachers (where they are trained to be bilingual teachers) that arrive from
> all over Bolivia. The "Normal de Warisata" was founded in the early 30's and it was the first indigenous, and
> community, project of this kind in Bolivia's history...
>
> 3. The school for rural teachers was set there not casually, because the aymara people consider Warisata
> as their "Athens", the centrum of his culture...
>
> 4. So given these conditions, it would be very good to have an Indymedia there: it would be a very motivated center, with > young people from many places (especially from all the corners of the aymara territory) reporting every week the news > > from inside...
>
> Well, I began talkings with the leaders of the region Warisata is located. And they are very interested in having their own > indigenous IMC... the Normal is involved in the project... but, as usual, they don't have a dime for this ...
>
> Be aware I'm talking here about almost everything is needed: computers, money for the shipment, tech assistance... they
> only have enough room inside the Normal, there is a chance to have a good Internet connection (no money for this either),
> disposition to pay some expenses (electricity, structural arrangements), and lots of people willing to have their own
> media...
>
> As for the ayamara people, in the next days they will be sending official letters from them (the leaders and the
> Normal) asking for help to set up their IMC...
