Dear colleagues,
I am writing regarding a recent letter from Mr. Borodaenko.
I am not obliged to reply to such 'friendly' letter but as editor need to say some words proving that communications and better understanding between the members of Independent Media is the key to success.
I can say that from everyone engage in the Belarus Independent project opinion, his letter is not only imploite but also does not comply with the main ideas of Independent Media such as partnership, corporative ethics, liberty...
I would like to remind Mr. Bondarenko our position: that the more independent media in the region of Central - Eastern Europe, the better. Your main point is that Russian indymedia center should dominate, that it deserves more than others, that it the main and better, but why not German, French, Belarusian? And why do you think that your contry's project is interesting for people on the other side of the board, for Belarusians? Only the time will show who of us was right.
About our project. The German and French versions are being prepared.
We are now working under the new way of representation of news, depicting of main events in Belarus and its reflection in the world. We believe in Independent Media and their role for the Freedom.
We strongly decided to present the information in the most user-friendly format, groupped on topics and with a summary. There is no freedom of information in Belarus and this makes us different from the most of colleagues... We are open for as close cooperation with others media as possible.
The situation in Belarus is definitely the worst in Europe. It is the only country wich is not the member of OSCE, where Humman Rights abuses is the everyday practice, it is the European country with the greatest risk to be involved in independent media.
There is an urgent need to let the world (people inside the country and abroad) know about hte Belarus's situation! It is a current need not only for Belarusians but for everyone - and we appreciate any assistance... We represent on our pages a short summary with analitics about the main aspects of the situation because many people after reading it, we hope, will be more interested in detailed information, current news, discussions and etc. We think that it is not the worst idea to represent on regional groups websites a short summary on main issues.
We welcome any critics, discussions and thank all for their opinion about our work.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Team and editor for Belarus Independent
