Dear Moho Jay,
I am I-Mad from IMC Beirut, we are very excited about you guys starting an
IMC in Egypt. But I have few words for you.
It took me three years to be able to find people serious enough to work on
an IMC. These people where either looking for similar people to start an
IMC (thus I met new activists) or people who never heard of the idea. In
these three years more than six groups I was part of tried to start an IMC
and failed. Even with the current group it took us a lot of time and
discussion to form our mission statement let alone to write it down and
agree on each word written in it (and believe sometimes the discussion
sounded futile and stupid over the usage of a certain word or the other
which wook around two hours.) Sometimes and till today people even myself
come to certain IMC meetings without doing their job or what they said
they would do. But this never gets us to say we are quitting. You seem to
have the will and eagerness to SPEAK UP! Speaking up can be through IMC or
through other media of struggle. I believe it is a medium not a goal. So,
get yourself together, and let us discuss what are the problems you are
facing. I went all the way to Iraq to help with an IMC there and the
attempt failed. But I say the attempt failed but I at least watered a seed
that one day I am sure will flower with the will of the people there.
So Yalla, write what are the problems you faced, if you preffer to my
email directly and I will try along with the collective in Beirut to
advice you how we dealt with it. I believe we in the middle east arab
countries face similar problems.
Best of luck, and keep the spirit! Yalla we need to hear an IMC Egypt tounge!
I-Mad!
P.S. till you have that, please feel free to use any IMC to post news
about Egypt. And for arabic there is IMC Beirut and Palestine that support
that. ( I am not sure about IMC Israel as well, but you can try it)
Cheers!
