[New-imc] Online form: Proposed new IMC! (Salt Lake Indymedia)

I have a few questions that we need to make sure we ask these guys. The
first is if they have been in contact or worked with the existing Utah
IMC. I know the Utah IMC is based in Salt Lake City so this would be
two imc's in the same place. To be honest i'm not sure how active the
Utah imc has been lately. Clearly this request comes out of frustration
with the editorial policy or frequency of features by the existing
collective.

For those of you not based in the US, Utah is not a place known for
it's radical social movements. It's a very religious and socially
conservative part of the US.

The applicants for this new imc seem to be saying that the Utah IMC
doesn't reflect the diversity of the community. I think we need to ask
questions about what which communities should be included.

I don't know if the RedCloudThunder is the same group i know of, but
there was a radical direct action earth first affinity group active
Northern California and Oregon. But that group alienated the other
activist groups and the surrounding community which was generally
sympathetic to pro-environmental actions. They espoused a particular
kind of eco-primitivist/green-anarchist politics which was also
reflected in part in the failed Eugene IMC. If it is the same group, i
feel we need to look in how they expect to do outreach in Utah which is
much more conservative than California and Oregon.

in solidarity,
evan
