Imc Bulgaria has finally completed all the steps toward becoming a new
imc.
After many months they have manage to do a lot of outreach, to join two
different groups who submitted the request separately and to become a
single working collective, and to write down all the documents needed
to pass the new-imc approval process.

I paste down all the documents:

http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcBulgariaMissionStatement
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcBulgariaEditorialPolicy
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcBulgariaMembershipCriteria

and the answers to the new imc-women part of the process:

>
>A. How does the makeup of your collective reflect the diversity of the
>local community (e.g. in realtion to gender-, sexual-, spiritual-,
>and/or cultural-identity)?
>
The activists in our collective are currently involved in one or more of
the following agendas:
environmentalism, alter-globalism, anarchism, anti-fascism, protection
of human and social rights, anti-capitalism, working class struggle.
We believe the makeup of the collective reflects pretty well the local
diversity of progressive forces. On the other hand, we are eager to grow
and include anyone that may be interested to participate and accepts our
core principles.

>B. If your group currently does not represent the diversity of the local
>community, particularly in relation to groups who are underrepresented
>in mainstream society and denied access to vehicles of expression, what
>steps will be taken to address this on an ongoing basis?

We plan to use the website as means of outreach. For example, we hope to
have more gender balanced membership - right now we have only one
female member. Also, we hope to include individuals from minority
groups, like Roma.

>C. What steps will be taken to involve individuals in workfields new to
>them? What measures will be taken to overcome a gendered work division?
>
Luckily, almost all involved are quite experienced in using the media
and the Internet as means of struggle: we have 4 programmers, a
journalist, an anarchist group publishing their own newspaper
AnarchoResistance, 2 graphic designers, a filmmaker. When new people
join us, we'll involve them at equal basis and help them learn using the
technological tools necessary for Indymedia. In Bulgaria, being an
ex-Socialist country, gendered work division is not typical. Even less
so in our group. In fact, we are all very interested in Parecon we may
consider becoming a Parecon-based collective.
