introductory_statement:
We would like to start an Indymedia in San Antonio in order to organize more people in the global movement. San Antonio has a very large, very diverse population, yet we still lack an organized network and community of activists. We want to confront this problem as we expect that by starting an independent media in San Antonio we can raise awareness about local issues such as the PGA Village deal, and broader, international issues such as the war in Iraq global economic and social justice, and environmental issues.

resources:
We do not have a dedicated server of our own, but could easily provide one hundred megabytes of space and a gigabyte of transfer every month until we are able to get one. We have several people with years of work in web administration, graphics design, and community organization. We have a few digital cameras and camcorders.

outreach:
Our infoshop, though small, provides a place for the local community to work in and is a great place to work on projects, learn new things, and get involved in community organizing. Projects such as our independent newspaper, The Flounder, raise issues and promote equality, and have been a great foothold to get people from our community involved in local and global projects such as Food Not Bombs, and Indymedia.

identity_makeup:
Because of the nature of San Antonio, a very large, diverse population spread out over a very large, broad area, local community organization efforts have been difficult. However, our collective is small, yet diverse, with people of completely different backgrounds working for the same goals. Our collective is a generally good representation of the local community of San Antonio.

steps_represent_diversity:
Our group needs more people aware and involved in the local community- which is one of the reasons we\'ve decided to join the Indymedia network, to become a larger, more representative community and organizing force.
