subtitle: THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULERS
title: Democracy Now! coming to KBCS and SCAN this fall
Seattle radio and cable TV audiences will have cause for celebration this
September, as community radio station <a href="http://kbcs.fm">KBCS</a>
(91.3fm) and Seattle Community Access Network (<a
href="http://www.scantv.org">SCAN</a>) add the highly-respected daily news
program <a href="http://www.democracynow.org">Democracy Now!</a> to their
broadcast schedules. The Pacifica program, hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan
Gonzales, is uniquely committed to bringing to the airwaves marginalized
voices and under-reported stories, and has distinguished itself repeatedly
with its unfliching coverage of domestic and international affairs.
<p>Beginning on <b>Labor Day (Sept 2)</b>, KBCS will air Democracy Now!
weekdays at 5pm. SCAN currently broadcasts the program on <a
href="http://www.ci.seattle.wa.us/SCAN/wednesday.htm">Wednesdays</a>, and
will begin daily 8am broadcasts on <b>Oct 1</b>.
<p>Host Amy Goodman will be in Seattle on September 13 and 14 as the
keynote speaker for <a href="http://www.reclaimthemedia.org">Reclaim The
Media: a Community Media Convergence</a>. The conference, timed to coincide
with the National Association of Broadcasters' annual radio conference, is
part of
a growing national media democracy movement. Check out the developing
conference schedule <a
href-"http://www.reclaimthemedia.org/schedule">here</a>, and watch the
Seattle IMC for addtional details.
