I have some comments on the content at your indymedia
site. These comments are probably relevant to most
branches of indymedia as well but some stories on your
site are what finally prompted me to speak about it.

Several articles on your site promote the website
stopamerica.org. This site is filled with half-truths
and blatant lies. The most obvious is where the site
attempts to blame the atrocities of the khmer rouge on
america. This is completely ridiculous. The united
states government has not and never would support the
khmer rouge. Not because of the atrocities involved,
but because of economic and political reasons. The
khmer rouge did enjoy some supporters in america, but
not from the government, in fact the support came from
the liberal left. Yes, it is an embarrassing fact that
many liberals pledged support for the khmer rouge,
including well known academics such as noam chomsky.

Another obvious problem with the site is a gallery of
photos of deformed children suffering from rare
diseases all attributed to american sanctions on iraq.
Of course anyone who is familiar with basic medical
texts will recognize several of these photos as
literally text book cases of rare diseases and
deformities. Using medical photos is a common tactic
often used on propaganda sites dedicated to furthering
the cause of islamic imperialism. The fact that people
in the indymedia community seem to actually consider
this site worthy of promotion is troubling.

I am concerned with what seems to be a trend among the
liberal left to become apologists for islamic fascism.
If the internet had been available during world war
two i'm sure the nazis would have created many
excellent websites carefully explaining the evils of
america...and probably some naive people would try to
post them to indymedia! Does this generation of
activists want to end up hiding a disturbing past of
supporting human rights violations and mass murder
simply because an enemy of my enemy is my friend? How
many aging berkeley grads hope no one remembers their
eager support for the khmer rouge? 

Do you think the religious right is somehow acceptable
if it's wrapped in islamic garb?

Jaama is a supporter of full shariah laws. Do you
understand what shariah laws are? How could you
possibly support this person? Go read one of Jaamas
other sites supportersofshariah.com. Anti-democracy,
anti-gay, anti-semitic, anti-women. Is being
anti-american a common denominator that makes the rest
of it all ok? Now that i see what seattle considers a
"community leader" i don't think i can ever take news
of a protest in the city seriously. If you want your
commity to be hate and fascism, yes i suppose jaama is
a excellent leader. For some reason i thought
indymedia was against hate and fascism, maybe i was
wrong. Do you realize how ridiculous it looks to have
one article blasting a radio show for "gay bashing"
and then directly above it have an article defending
someone who promotes a set of religious laws under
which gays must be executed?

Do you put up such a stink when neo-nazis are
arrested? Or do you only defend promoters of hate when
they are muslim?
