Sorry it took a few days to send this out, and, for the a few of you, this is a new email address as well. Interestingly enough, our old email account "doesn't work". Odd.
So, here is our statement...and if you want a copy of "The Seattle Crimes", please reply back, and we can work it out...
"The content of "The Seattle Crimes" is far more important than who did it, or how. That's why we did it, to raise issues and encourage dialogue about police brutality, racial profiling, and institutional racism. We hope it's working; from the response we've seen in the community, we think it is. If you're interested in this project, please look into those issues and the local campaigns that are addressing them.
Racism is alive and well around here, but the polite, "acceptable" way that Seattle usually talks about it is not going to create any substantive change. We felt we had to push the envelope a little bit. Others will have to push it much further. Parts of "The Seattle Crimes" may have been funny, but this is no joke. People are dying. This shit is serious."
