thanks brandon and jonathan!

i really think this is a great improvement and i think making this 
initial change is a great way for us to continue the discussion of 
more substantive changes (sf active/mir code changes for features, 
etc).  i really like the images and the non-blue background, which 
has been that way for nearly 3 years.  it is time for a change.
