[Seattle-editorial] FEATURE PROPOSAL: Living Wage Victory!

Hi Lance,

I understand the concern .... but in the current case i think it would be
too long to wait (til Friday) to put another feature on top. We haven't
had any news-news since Oct 28 (a full nine days!), and the Burning Man
story is interesting, but more philosophical than news-y, yes? (since BM
happened many months ago, and essentially we're introducing some analyses
about it and announcing an upcoming party). It's all cool, and I'm glad
that we're promoting it .... and I'm also glad for introducing broad
philosophical concerns (about community, the 'gift economy', and more) -- I
hope we'll see even more of it!!

But I'm also feeling sensitive to our hard-working friends in the labor
community. The Washington State Jobs with Justice coalition represents
over 100 organizations and 6,000 individuals in the state (membership list:
http://www.wsjwj.org/about/about_default.asp ) --- and the Living Wage
Ordinance is a major victory for them. They're active posters to the
newswire, and I like to honor that as well.

All these things considered, I'd like to post the feature tomorrow. It's a
very short feature, so folks won't need to scroll much to see the Burning
Man feature and the gorgeous photo accompanying it.

Note too, that the feature has also made its way to the global site ... (to
the features newswire on the right-hand side), so the story is already
getting international exposure as well.

Just my .02 --- do others in the editorial collective want to weigh in?

- Susan
