Hello,
I can understand Geov's wanting to cover our cities
gearing up for a 'fight'. Reporting on the reaction by
the state to these protests is important. However,
much of our coverage on this event in the past has
focused on the police and media reaction. Scroll down
to see the appropriate features at:
http://seattle.indymedia.org/features.php3?feature_id=7
and http://seattle.indymedia.org/feature-feb01.html
This should be a part of the coverage, but I agree
with Walt. Our coverage should expand beyond the 'they
report on the police keeping "order"/we report on
violence the police do and the miserable corporate
media coverage'.
Our volunteers have done some amazing work in the past
regarding the link to police violence and corporate
power. However, it would be nice to see some articles
on how the movement has progressed since 1999
(critique as well as supportive, different tactics,
etc) or perhaps some coverage on how the protests have
affected policy since then.
Just some ideas,
Lance
