MORE SCREENINGS OF "URBAN WARRIOR"

As the Anniversary of the WTO Ministerial comes around, it's important that
we not forget what happened here in Seattle. Use of paramilitary force
against domestic populations in the U.S. is nothing new. They've been used
against organized labor for years, against groups like the Bonus Marchers of
the 1930's, the Black Panther Party, the American Indian Movement, and MOVE,
as well as the Branch Davidians and a White Separatist named Randy Weaver.

What was different about what we experienced was that these were people who
were isolated geographically or politically. The WTO Ministerial marked the
use of this sort of force against the most densely populated area on the
West Coast of the U.S., north of San Francisco. It was a way of saying that
the policies our country has been using against the rest of the world, have
come home to roost.

URBAN WARRIOR is the first documentary to examine this phenomenon directly,
tracking the growth of this model from the unrest of the 1960's, through the
Drug War, to the current "War on Terror."

PAUL RICHMOND, SEATTLE ATTORNEY, AND AUTHOR OF THE REPORT "WAGING WAR ON
DISSENT" WHO SERVED AS PRODUCER AND CONSULTANT DURING THIS PROJECT WILL BE
ON HAND WITH OTHER SURPRISE GUESTS

"A surprisingly rational and even handed examination of the evolution of the
modern police force from a protectionist to a military model. One expects an
inquiry like this to be didactic and full of foregone conclusions (not to
mention shaky DV camerawork,) but the interviews maintain enough distance to
sidestep the "pigs vs. kids" ghetto and engage in an interesting,
enlightening discussion about contemporary life." The Stranger
