sorry, I thought I had already given this thumbs up. Thumbs up!
I made a couple of suggested changes: getting the ArtSpot name into the
feature, and based on Joseph's suggestion, adding more prominent info on
Ultra, which is both a really cool series and a cool new connection between
the IMC and NW Film Forum.
I wanted to keep Lance's "unplugging from consumer culture" phrase though
so I made it the subtitle. Lance, all this ok with you?

Here it is. As has been the trend recently it's now quite long. Now we
REALLY need an N30 feature... I'll pull one together if nobody else is
working on one <sigh.>

[green bar] UNPLUGGING FROM CONSUMER CULTURE

[title] Happy Un-holiday: Buy Nothing Day

[text] This coming Friday will mark the eleventh year of the
anti-consumption holiday, <a
href="http://www.buynothing-dosomething.org">Buy Nothing Day</a>. More
people are getting involved each year in a variety of ways, but ultimately
the point is to curb consumption and think about what we buy. During one of
the busiest shopping days of the year, many organizations, activists and
enlightened consumers will further the call for intelligent consumption.
Local organizers have called for shoppers to <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20034">"buy
nothing, do something"</a>. An <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20303">anti-ad</a>
produced by <a href="http://www.artspotsmedia.org">ArtSpots</a> will air on
KING-5 during the day.<a

schedule here</a>.

<p>Originally, the campaign was pushed internationally. Though this still
<a
href="http://www.adbusters.org/campaigns/bnd/toolbox/vote/2002victory.html">occurs</a>,
the core premise of the 'holiday' - unplugging from consumer culture to
reconnect with those around you - has lent itself well to local grassroots
organizing. Activists, performers, and artists are mixing locally to
produce a three part <a
href="http://www.seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20340 ">series
of exhibitions</a>, launching on Buy Nothing Day to highlight all facets of
consumption and gluttony.

<p>Also beginning this weekend, the Northwest Film Forum and Seattle IMC
present <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20352">ULTRA ART:
The High Noon of Consumer Culture</a>, a series of critical documentaries
dissecting the current dark ages of late capitalism. Running through Dec.
15, the film series includes several events presented by Negativland's Mark
Hosler, and a subvertising/culture jam art exhibition at the <a
href="http://www.wigglyworld.org">Little Theater</a>. On Dec. 10 Jill
Sharpe will be in town to introduce her film <a
href="http://www.culturejamthefilm.com">Culture Jam</a>, a tremendous hit
during Reclaim the Media in September.
