[green bar]DIALOGUES ON ANTI-GLOBALIZATION
[title] Is the Movement dead?
The three-year anniversary of the Seattle anti-WTO
protests will be marked with solidarity events <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20128">locally</a>
and internationally. Local activists are discussing
different ways for <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20129">affinity
groups</a> to mark the event as well as different <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=19938">tactics</a>.
<p>
Events marring last year's march are still being <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=18967">resolved</a>,
while critics condemn the <a
href="http://www.enterstageright.com/archive/articles/0502/0502mayday.htm">"violence"</a>
of the anti-economic liberalization movement and
others demonstrate that it is <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=20376&group=webcast">state
violence which has increased. The <a
href="http://www.manipuronline.com/Politics%20&%20Economy/globalization17.htm">media</a>
has continued to misrepresent the movement's message
as incoherent, and the current political climate has
brought many people to question the <a
href="http://www.earthtimes.org/jan/davos2002isthejan29_02.htm">relevancy</a>
of the movement.
<p>
Despite these condemnations, local action groups
continue to take to the streets, connect with local
movements in other <a
href="http://www.enn.com/news/wire-stories/2002/09/09272002/reu_48544.asp">countries</a>
and refocus their language to <a
href="http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=12423">directly
address the criticisms of establishment rhetoric.
