I like this idea. Structuring/sorting/filtering the newswire is an
important idea. I think that there's no argument there.
As far as I know, the obstacle is technical. I think we need to move to
a "modern" Active codebase before we can do that, and the biggest
problem there is the database migration (of articles -- this is
unrelated to the volunteer/contact/donor DB project I'm working on).
Somebody correct me if I'm wildly off here, but I think that if we could
get the Seattle site onto the sf-active codebase, then we would have
much more freedom to implement these sorts of suggestions. For the
record, I agree that an optionally-moderated newswire (so long as the
unmoderated view was also available) would be a great thing for the
Seattle IMC.
