For my two sense, I agree with this poster. Even on our front machines,
usually the website is way too dark to read easily. Especially the little
tiny links at the bottom of the frontpage.

Subject: [Seattle-editorial] Color scheme & readability
Hi,
This may seem petty, but I think the color scheme of the Seattle
Indymedia website inhibits readability. I have gotten links in e-mails
to Seattle Indymedia articles on occasion, and I like the idea of the
site (and Indymedia in general), but I find the white-on-dark color
scheme to be somewhat of a turn-off, both in its dark character and its
low readability. This fact came to my attention just a minute ago when
I followed a link to the Portland Indymedia site, which in contrast is
very inviting and almost made me want to bookmark it and return to it
regularly - except that I'm a Seattlite.
My sense, since I first discovered Indymedia (and the Seattle site),
has been that I want to like this site, but for some reason I haven't
been able to. Should the color scheme of a website be enough to turn
away a real activist and citizen from a local independent media site?
No. But in terms of the site's accessibility (to anyone) and
practicality (in my life, speaking for myself), I find that with the
current design, it is not something that I can refer to at a glance,
that I can fit within my busy life, much as I would like to.
Just my two cents.
Sincerely,
Marc Macauley
