Here's my pass at a front page version of your story. Since this is your
first proposal to the collective, I'll offer a few reasons for this version.
-First I cut down on the commentary and tried to get the guts of the
story.... News format is generally to tell the story in the first 35 words,
then fill in the details from there. There's a lot of inflammatory/directed
speech in you proposal that I would steer clear of for the front page. We
can link to the unedited story from the front page.
-2nd, links are great, I'll look some up as I can tonight to add as well.
Linking to local news stories about Norm Maleng, Nordstrom, etc. buying
influence stuff like that would be great.
--3rd we should link to story(s) about free speech zones, something to
support the story. Who said these free speech zones are going to exist?
Ok so here's my proposed edit--
_______________________________________________________________________
Title: Free Speech Zones
Subtitle: Censorship and Big Brother Coming to Town
Bellevue protesters will be restricted to "Free Speech Zones" during Dubya's
visit to the Northwest this weekend. The free speech rally will take place
at NE 8th and Bellevue Way on August 23, 2003.
Reportedly, Bush will be nowhere near the free speech zone, and will instead
be hobnobbing with the local super-rich, including Craig and Susan McCaw at
their Mansion at 3858 Hunts Point Road in Medina.
At 11:30 AM on the 23rd, Bush will be asking for more cash at a gathering
with such noted contributors to the new regime as Norm Maleng, Jim and John
Nordstrom and a host of other wealthy contributors.

Hi all,
Here is my second attempt at a proposal:
Is there a format for noting at the top that this is an "opinion" or
"commentary"? Would that be the subtitle at the top?
I think the title: "Seattle protesters are hoodwinked" works well.
I cleaned up what typos I found in the text below and noted where I think a
break should be to a hyperlink to the rest of the text. It would also be
nice if we had a bio on the Reverend for the end. (Reverend?) I would also
suggest a hyperlink to Hunts Point Road for description and directions on
how to get to the protests there.
