Title: Free Speech Zones and the President
Subtitle: Censorship and Big Brother are Coming to Town
Bellevue protesters, and others around the Northwest will be restricted to
"Free Speech Zones" during Dubya's visit this weekend. Free Speech Zones are
a new tactic in censhorship employed by various governmental and private
groups to limit dissent, and are a tremendous expansion of a "law
enforcement" concept honed earlier in Seattle during the WTO protests in
1999, which were earlier termed "No Protest Zones".
Apparently this previous transgression of Free Speech was upheld by the
courts (see also earlier Seattle Times Article). Now a new movement has been
spearheaded by Universities across the US, which in the wake of 911 have
created "Free Speech Zones" to reign in student dissent to controllable
areas. With a legal path paved by Universities, the Bush regime has picked
up the ball, and run with it.
Rallies are scheduled all over the Northwest. But Bush will be nowhere near
the protests, and will instead be visiting the tri-cities to talk about
"Salmon Recovery". After this The President will be doing some serious
hobnobbing with the local super-rich, including Craig and Susan McCaw at
their Mansion at 3858 Hunts Point Road in Medina. At 11:30 AM on the 23rd,
Bush will be asking for even more cash at a gathering from such noted
contributors as Norm Maleng, Jim and John Nordstrom, The Weyehausers and a
host of other wealthy contributors who's names are also corporations.

Needed Fact Checking: I am trying to find out more about these rumored Free
Speech Zones... could anyone fill me in with details? To the point, are we
sure people will be restricted to free speech zones/what member of
traditional authority has claimed this is true?

Points that could be addressed:
Ever wonder why every campus has a Red Square? (I'm looking for support for
my answer). I can't find it yet, but it's rumored that "Red Squares" were
built into campus architexture to make it easier to hose down protestors
with fire hoses.
