This is a rewrite of a previous proposal that was left hanging for 24 hours
with no response from two active editors. Judy gave it a thumbs up, and
Joseph (a kinda active editor) did as well. But well, I wasn't happy with it
anyway... so I never posted it. However, I will compromise (as I have a 24
hour rule right to post it according to our process I believe), and say that
if no one responds with objections by morning I am posting the story below.

Title:Presidential fundraisers bring protests to town

<p>Over a <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=32079&group=web
cast">very
active political weekend</a> in Seattle, protestors came out as expected
to
<a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=32079&group=web
cast">unwelcome
President Bush</a> to the Northwest. Meanwhile Dean supporters came out in
record
numbers to support the Democratic hopeful.</p>
<p>The call for impeachment of President Bush for lying about the reasons to
go
to War in the State of the Union has people literally marching in the
streets
to demand President Bush's immediate <a
href="http://www.votetoimpeach.org/">impeachment</a>.
In stark contrast to the impeachment of President Clinton for lying about
an
affair, where it seemed only a handful of Republicans and <a
href="http://www.perkel.com/politics/moonies/index.htm">Moonies</a>
really cared. </p>
<p>The McCain-Feingold act, touted by it's supporters as taking big money
out
of campaigns, has <a
href="http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20030818-035315-1280r">helped
GW surpass all previous campaign war chests</a> by raising the personal
limit
to $2000, thereby increasing the <a
href="http://www.iht.com/articles/106981.html">influence
of the wealthy</a> on political campaigns, and he wasted no time in
Washington
State proving it. Trying hard not to be outfought for pulling in the
dough,
<a href="http://www.deanforamerica.com">Howard Dean</a> swept through town
this
weekend in an attempt to go head-to-head with Bush's fundraising machine
by
travelling to 8 cities in 4 days. Aprroximately <a
href="http://blog.deanforamerica.com/archives/001209.html">15,000
people packed Westlake</a> to hear him speak.</p>
<p>While <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=31897&group=web
cast">progressives
are worried</a> that Dean may only be <a
href="http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=31895&group=web
cast">American
Empire lite</a>, can anyone really say that actually having the worse of
the
two evils isn't a whole lot worse? With less than a year before the
primaries
start, no 3rd party candidate has emerged to challenge the two-party
duopoly.</p>
