Heather, Don't know if you remember me...walt, white male, older than most around IMC...

Has my reply about power grab. I have some very vivid memories, not very vividly told i admit, of the way process was ignored when it was advantageous, and strictly followed when it was not a pet cause of the reluctant one(s).
Pet vision? I do have one. we probably all do/did. That should be cherished. Thats where new thoughts come from. Autonomy and passion lead to wonderfull things. Autonomy was undermined, passion withered- for many.
Me, I endured. I could be cute and use the Tom Cruise, officer and Gentleman line: "I (had) no place else to go."
Well, its not true here. I did go , and come back from an exciting project. And that was a revealing return. I wondered if anyone was taking the project seriously. I wondered if the community folk were right. The ones who confided why they stayed away. Who asked "is #$^%&% still down there?. The third parties who said that many thought it too radical (for their simple strugles to survive well and to live in dignity to be respected) I winced and took it to heart. The ones who said "arogant" and "dismissive" people from imc never asked what they might want of the org, but, in best anglo imperialist mode, like the caretakers of the savages, decided daddy knows best.
Want to help with the institutional racism issues?
We need more women. Not as tokens. As the sensible and cooperative wonders they are.
