Seattle IMC Editorial,

At the "Core working group" meeting last night, I
found out that our new MIR site could be replacing our
current site in less than 7 days. It's going to be
very close to Portland's design by default, unless we
specifically make it otherwise.

There a lot of things that could or should be done.
One is that we as an editorial collective need to
figure out what we want to have the web page do. I
believe the more specific and shorter our wish-list
is, the more likely it is that it will be granted.

Now, we all have our own quirky biases here, and my
particular bias is towards out-reach. Specifically, I
would like to be able to do some Seattle IMC out reach
into Kitsap County. One of the barriers to me doing
this, is that IF someone over there manages to get
something decent posted onto our newswire, it will
most likely be swept away by the newswire spam.

I like open publishing. I think we should have open
publishing. However, for outreach purposes, I would
really like us to have a "local" and "other" section
to our open newswire. I belive this is the most
common way to "moderate" open newswires for IMCs
anyhow. (However, Portland does not moderate their
newswire at all from what I can tell, and there is no
local section on it, just one big mess, like ours.)

Now, this was one of MANY possible options for dealing
with our newswire spam, but I believe this one is the
least labor intensive, AND it's the best one for local
outreach.

Is our need to have a local and other section to our
open newswire something that we agree on as an
editorial collective, or is there something here that
I've missed?
