Editorial-

Now is your chance to learn the basics of MIR administration via hands-on
practice. Once seattle.indymedia.org switches over to MIR (in a few days!!)
very few people will know how to administer the new site.

To help people learn, the following MIR site will act as a 'sandbox' and
learning area. Even after the new site is working, people can continue to
use this practice site to learn how to manage a MIR site and its newswire.

So please, visit the practice site right now and post an article. Then, log
in to the administration interface so you can try out managing the newswire,
creating features, and posting "breaking news" alerts.

Purely as a test, I have created two "Topics": MIR and City Beat.

To share what you learn with others, write a HOW TO article and simply
select the "MIR" topic when you post. These articles will show up at
http://www.seattleimc.org/en/mir/archive.shtml, and will be reachable via
the "MIR" topic link in the left hand navigation bar.

To avoid confusion, I suggest that when sending email about MIR, try to
clarify in the subject line what you are talking or asking about:

seattletech list
----------------
1) MIR technical stuff
2) MIR HOW-TO stuff

seattle-editorial list
----------------------
3) Seattle site design
4) Seattle editorial policy

mir-coders list
---------------
5) MIR very technical stuff

I also suggest that design discussions could occur on this practice site,
and that anytime someone wanted to propose or discuss the issue on the
editorial list they could simply reference an article, like so:
