' Potentially we could even build a calendar by having
a different article type, but not next week)"

<<<do you mean by filling announcements into a calendar format, accessing by pointing to given day ?>>>>

"You can not only template articles different, but you can create a special pages for a given article type."

<<<<<<thank you thank you thank you>>>>>>>>>

"TOPIC (potentially more then one per article) Portland has a *huge* number of these (perhaps too many?"

<<<<so many topics make sense in perspective of search engines. But its a lousy experience when you go to post. It sounds so impossible to parse and get on with, unless multiples are allowed. the "pick one" option is the real killer!!!

I'd love to see a simple set: 1. local option. 2. local events option,3. open wire option. I am very wary that the local will be spamed if we leave it to posters to decide. Perhaps we could be prepared to moderate the choosing.

TRUSTED POSTERS- ie PRESSPASS HOLDERS could be given direct access to the local and events. THat gets back to ownership and rewards for participating more collaboratively in the hopefully more longlasting local pages mediawork. Outreach and facilitation in one. It could work exactly like a moderated input list. substitute 'passholder' for 'subscriber to list' but we need to be open to new posters without the pass becoming a big barrier. eventually getting a pass will simpllify matters for regular posters.>>>>>>>>>>>>>
