[Seattle-editorial] Proposal for a plan of operations and projects re website

That's not my reason for writing.  I saw that next to the tab to vote and to view results there was a tab called "discuss" which goes to a sign in for moderated lists. it lead here:

started the wheels turning, runing along the track of the new BBC project.....

I will say once again.  We are not serving Seattle.  We have disconnects.  I keep trying to change this.  I fail because my vision is not picked up.  its either I don't get it, i'm not into that, or we are not ready for that.

What are we ready for?

Are we ready to go at designing systems that could just get attention worldwide?  

Are we ready to set forth courses we don't YET have the volunteers to complete?  If so, could we start the plans before we get there- this time?

We are not serving Seattle.  but we post all the protests!  So!  listen to lihi, lelo, obs with justice, other press, other communities.  look around their events for imc presence.  look under the hood for imc support and service.

Just exactly what are we here for?

"change the world" i hope is on the list.  doesn't have to be first place.

Media starts with a story. stories come from peoples lives as well as from prestigious institutions like the Pentagon.  How many stories are we neglecting?  

How can we create a truly safe space online?  how can we create a valuable space as well.  Valuable to minority and under-represented voices.

The WTO went home.  LEIU checked out of the hotel.  What's left to do?

Seattle media.

Proposal
That we agree to set a course to create a safe and valuable space for the communities refered to above.

That we initiate discussion of what safe and valuable mean in practice.

That we outline a course of website developement, from both  the social side as well as the technical side.  (I think you need to know what its for before you decide how it can be built)

That we ASK what would be of value, and not do this in house/in isolation.

That we start this at the next ed meeting which should be in this coming week.

I will convene this meeting with or without responses to this mail.
