Kellan, we are deeply in debt. I can only add my own shortfalling of failing to get the 2 "related stories" to you.

1.
Speaking personally, we have traditionally cut the text display in center column. This keeps more stories on page, meaning they are around longer. That is valuable, more so <imho> than pushing them down so top story is all there without a click to "more" Again, less IS more
3.
other sites allow the guest posters (open wire) to edit their own post, not others' posts. could be a time saver, but its not pressing, not nearly.
5.
Class it is... late Dec is good too.

i posted the andy stephenson/diebold feature, which was a useful learning expirence.
few things i noticed (or thought about) in the process.
1.
i had to post the entire story in the abstract ........
do people want to consistently show the full body of a story in the center column <<<no>>>, or could they concievably only want to display an abstract? <<<yes>>>
i'll try to configure Mir to display the full contents on the front page
if the abstract is empty, otherwise default to displaying only the
abstract with a "Read the Full Story" link, or some such.
...
3.
everyone can (and probably should) have their own username and password for logging into the admin site. we can also keep the editor login as a "guest editor" account.
5.
people need to take the time to learn the new software. we should think about scheduling a training for the last week of Dec. if people are going to be around. however this is really a collaborative effort we're all learning how to use this together. if people aren't using it, finding the
problems, and coming up with ideas for solutions then the site is not going to be vital.
