'bye, Walt. Sorry to see you go.

I do feel obliged to respond to the issues you seem to raise here. I sense
some resentment -- though your email is brief, and I might have
misunderstood it -- and I want to make sure you (and the others on this
list) understand the situation.

1) the seattle-editorial list is unmoderated for a reason.

We made a decision a long time ago to leave the seattle-editorial list as
an "unmoderated" list -- people who weren't members should be able to
write and make suggestions. This policy does not apply to all IMC lists --
the editorial list is a special case because we want to leave it open.

2) *actual* viruses are blocked & most spam is blocked.

emails above a certain size -- or that were bcc'ed to the list, or a
number of other criteria that suggest spam -- are held, and I (the list
admin) get an email notifying me of these. I usually get four or five a
day, most of which are immediately discarded.

The email you received today was *not* blocked; it does *not* include the
Klez worm, which was filtered out before it reached the IMC servers at
all.

3) the Klez worm subject line (and its friends) probably should be
included in the list of spam traps.

I will write Listwork about this.
