[Seattle-editorial] Protestors and terrorist articles

Hi all,
I removed all my posts regarding the terrorist/protestors arrested, as per
the request of the defendents and their current legal council. I did this as
they were my own posts, and the protestors requested it last night as soon
as being released from jail. I also did this without a 2nd approval, only
Brandon was around. However, I made the call and did it anyway. I didn't
want to, and feel that not going to the media weakens their defense
position. However, this is not my call to make, as I am not facing
prosecution, and hope that others can respect their wishes.
To this end, Portland IMC has posted many of my writings to their front
page, and I am trying to contact them to have it removed. Anyone that can
help in this department, please contact me ASAP.

I forgot to include Gentry's newswire article in my previous email. I have
included it below, and please see http://portland.indymedia.org/
With so many developments occuring so fast I think we should consider
another LEIU feature.
I've uploaded these 5 ogg vorbis audio files from Tuesday's 11am press

LEIU Protestors arrested as Terrorist Suspects
by Gentry 2:23pm Tue Jun 3 '03
http://seattle.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=28207&group=webcast
Several members of the LEIU welcoming committee have been arrested today for
tresspassing on private property. Allegedly, the police on the scene advised
the suspects that they would be warned and released. However, once the
police ran these individuals' names through the police database the FBI were
called in as the names came back as possible terrorist suspects. This should
be a wake up call to anyone in Seattle, or in the US, if you engage in
protests, civil disobedience, or particularly anti-LEIU activities, the
government now considers you a potential "terrorist" threat.
As a member of the IMC collective, I have long suspected my name is already
on these lists... however, now that my friends have been arrested my
suspicions have been confirmed. So be warned, Big Brother is watching.
Anyone with additional information please post it hear, more information
will be added as available. Also, please feel free to contact the Seattle
IMC with additional information.

My follow-ups are posted as well.
Portland Indymedia has jumped the gun a bit, and is "rumor milling" the
story, in my opinion...
http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2003/06/265916.shtml, as until more details
are known, having a front page feature, that states they were arrested as
terrorists is pretty dramatic. While my original post was slightly
inflammatory, I didn't go so far as to mistate why they were arrested...
they were arrested for trespassing, not for "possible terrorism". What the
individual with whom I spoke said, was that she had been arrested for
trespassing, and then they ran their names, and the FBI was notified, as
their names were apparently flagged for "terrorism" of some sort. Now while
I was not the one who introduced the term, I admit that I can't remember if
the term she used was "potential terrorists" or "suspected terrorists" or
what... I've fielded so many calls at this point that I am more than a
little unsure of my own memory at this point.
Anyway, I've posted all I know to our site, and will be down at the IMC
later today.
Gentry

Hi Walt.
I'm not the list admin of this list (I think Jeremy is) but I think if we
want timely responses, we really need to be subscribed so our messages
don't get caught in the filter. I know from administering the media list,
that about 95% of the emails received are spams--that takes time to go
through, and even if an admin gets to it once a day (not unreasonable),
that's potentially 24 hours' delay for your message--a lifetime for quick
editorial decisions. My advice--rejoin the list.
thanks
JL

Members,
Help needed at IMC: DSL DOWN!!!!
We have lost our high speed internet connection(DSL). The only
screen showing is the "Pay your bill" web page. We need the account
name and password to pay the bill. Also, a credit card to pay
quickly. This occurs at the very start of a major week of actions
against the LEIU.
Both Stephanie and Jason have responded that they don't have the PW
or account name(I think we know the account name). We have calls
into Sheri, Daniel, Susan and Jonathon to help with the Problem.
Please respond immediately to this request for help if you have the
PW, acct. name, or the Credit Card to pay the bill with! Call now!

Members,
Our DSL lives again!
Speakeasy has given us an extension of one week to pay our bill. I
talked with Bruce in Cust. Svc. and got the DSL back on. The
details of our back bill will be given to the Spokes for immediate
consideration and Payment.

thanks joseph.
brandon f called me today asking me about this and i called the imc as soon
as i
got the message. i have had "connections" and a relationship with the
speakeasy
crew since the early days but i have not been the one paying the DSL bill.
cinde was responsible for that until she left. i'm not sure who is paying
the
bills at the moment.
perhaps to avoid having this happening again in the future (our streaming
going
down, our website going down, etc.), we could have the dsl bill put on
automatic
payment?
who are the current bill payers? is this the spokescouncil responsibilities
or
an individual?
peace

Hello,
It has come to my attention that many of you may not know the variety of
languages that the ACLU of Washington offers of the "Know Your Rights"
brochure. The brochure discusses the rights we have in this country and
what to do if you are stopped by the police, FBI, INS (a.k.a. BCIS) or the
Custom Services. Please make use of these brochures and distribute them to
your communities. I've included the link http://www.aclu-wa.org/pubs/ where
you will be able to find the brochures in the following 8 languages:
Arabic
English
Farsi
Hindi
Punjabi
Somali
Spanish
Urdu

Hey. Due to the time-senitive nature of this, I'm going ahead and posting
it now. Any objections, please voice and, of course, feel free to edit/add
links.
subtitle: MILITARIZED SPD ON DISPLAY FOR LEIU
title: Undercover Police Provoke Conflict; Legal Observer Shot and
Hospitalized
At least twelve people have been arrested following June 2 demonstrations
against the LEIU conference in
downtown Seattle, near where the secretive private intelligence network is
holding its annual conference. In one confrontation between Seattle Police
and demonstrators, National Lawyers Guild legal observer Larry Hildes was
hospitalized after being shot in the back with "non-lethal" weapons.

Following an early evening rally in Westlake Park, several hundred
demonstrators began a nonviolent, permitted march toward the LEIU
conference site, the Red Lion Hotel, where cordons of police waited in riot
gear. The crowd continued to rally there with music from the Anti-Fascist
Marching Band and the Infernal Noise Brigade; some burned and tore US
flags. One protester climbed atop a nearby awning and attempted to burn a
flag there; as he descended, other demonstrators huddled around him to
protect him against identification and arrest. However, one or more of the
people in this huddle turned out to be undercover police, and disorder
broke out when one undercover cop reportedly provoked a fistfight while
attempting to subdue the protester. The police then moved against the
