Brandon,
Very important story, I agree--does this seems more like an article than a
feature? I'm not sure what the central idea is. The NOW angle is very good,
but the predominance of corporate media links kind of undercuts the implied
criticism of the media buzz. All the basic information is from McClatchy
and Hearst papers, thus doesn't offer "independent" information--this is
why we have in the past generally avoided linking to corporate media stories.
My suggestion is to hone down the feature to the domestic violence/NOW
critique angle--perhaps with a swipe at the hypocritical police
protoect-thier-own impulse, and flesh it out with more local stuff--maybe
local resources for battered women, online resources for women ... I found
