Subject: [Seattle-editorial] FP: Get Ready. The Seattle IMC Website is
going to be changing.
Editing for punchiness and excitement is encouraged
Proposal:
Greenbar: New Code, New Features, New Look, New Media
TITLE: Seattle IMC website to undergo major upgrade
Body:
The code base that runs the Seattle IMC website is getting old. It was
written more than four years ago and has been modified and patched and
hacked to within an inch of it's life. It's come time to retire this
venerable package and move on. In the next few weeks a new, much more
robust, secure, feature full and beautifully designed website will
replace the current verion of our website. It will include our entire
archive of newswire posts and features dating back to November '99.
The new code is known as MIR. It's based on the Java programming
language. Technical details and a list of features can be found <a href
= "http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Devel/MiR">here</a>. Anyone skilled
and interested in becoming involved in helping support the Seattle IMC
with website development, maintainence, design or money (new servers are
being donated but some new components are necessary) is encouraged to
contact the <a href = "mailto:seattle-editorial at indymedia.org">Seattle
IMC editorial collective</a>.
