Title: Police Repression in These United States
Sub: FTAA Protests and Arrests

<p>Fear and intimidation, it's the name of the game in the United States.
There's
  scant little corporate news of the political repression of protest, but
then
  the Corporate News isn't really news anymore is it?</p>
<p>200 protestors were arrested this weekend in Miami. The Alternative
Media,
  <a
href="http://www.counterpunch.org/scahill11242003.html">Counterpunch</a>,
  the <a href="http://www.ftaaimc.org/en/index.shtml">FTAA Indymedia
Site</a>,
  and a few local periodicals carried the AP story, <a
href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/miami/sfl-arrested1124,0,720799
6.story?coll=sfla-news-miami">here</a>,
  <a href="http://www.nbc6.net/news/2661452/detail.html">here</a>, and <a
href="http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/7340289.htm">here</a>.</p>
<p>Most notably The United Steelworkers of America, put out a press release
that
  called for Investigations, &quot;"Last week, the fundamental rights of
thousands
  of Americans
 were blatantly violated, sometimes violently, by the Miami
police,
  who systematically repressed our Constitutional right to free assembly
with
  massive force, riot gear and armaments," said Leo W. Gerard, USWA
international
  president, in a letter to Congressional leaders.&quot; The story is <a
href="http://www.infoshop.org/inews/stories.php?story=03/11/24/7947701">here
</a>,
  on Infoshop.org. Which has <a
href="http://www.infoshop.org/inews/stories.php?story=03/11/24/4862721">anot
her
  thread going here</a>, including personal accounts.</p>
