HOLY NAMES ACADEMY PRESENTS

RADIUM GIRLS

Science, Health and Struggle for Justice Takes Center Stage

Seattle, WA - The story of cancer, a miracle cure and a woman's campaign
for justice takes center stage as Holy Names Academy presents Radium
Girls. This compelling drama takes a powerful look at America's
obsession with health, wealth and the commercialization of science.

Written by D.W. Gregory, Radium Girls relays the story of Grace Fryer, a
dialpainter in the 1920s, and her fight to expose the U.S. Radium
Corporation after contracting an illness while on the job. Radium Girls
is a powerful story of the individual and personal effects of the
industrialization of America.

"This production is a fantastic look at the personal element of any
scientific or industrial development," said Colleen Raney, a graduate of
the University of Washington's Professional Actor Training Program and
current faculty member at Holy Names. "It calls to mind our own
involvement with Hanford and our witness to the environmental and
personal repercussions with which we continue to deal."

Radium Girls opens at 7:30 p.m. on November 7, 2003. Additional shows
will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 8th, and 2:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 9th. Ticket prices are $6 for students with ASB card
and $8 for adults. Holy Names Academy is located at 728 21st Avenue
East on Capital Hill in Seattle.
